Mundaring B.A. Premiers 1971

1971

Founding Years

Formation of the Mundaring and Districts Basketball Association. The Hills Raiders Basketball Association (HRBA) began in 1971 as the Mundaring and Districts Basketball Association. Local enthusiasts previously traveled to Harper Park or West Midland for games until the inaugural meeting on February 10, 1971, at Mundaring Primary School led to the first season at Harry Riseborough Oval.


1977

Expansion & Growth

By 1977, HRBA moved to a new multi-functional court at the Mundaring Recreation Ground, enhancing local facilities. Tuesday night basketball was introduced in 1986, and the association officially became the Hills Raiders Basketball Association in 1987.

1989-1990s

Facility Upgrades

In 1989, HRBA built an outdoor office and canteen, with mid-1990s expansions. Notable upgrades in 2000-2001 included court resurfacing and new fencing.


1997-2002

Affiliation with Basketball WA

Affiliation with Basketball WA (1997–1998) fostered junior basketball growth. In 2001–2002, mini basketball and a Primary School Skills Development Program were introduced to nurture youth talent.

2012-2018

The Quest for an Indoor Stadium

The vision for an indoor stadium began in the 1990s but took shape in 2012 with community and government support. By 2018, the Hills Raiders Indoor Basketball Stadium was completed.


2018

HILLS RAIDERS JOIN WABL

In 2018, HRBA joined the West Australian Basketball League (WABL), becoming the 13th club and first new club since 1995. The 2019 inaugural WABL season started with four teams, expanding to 23 by 2023.

2024

A Flourishing Basketball Association in Western Australia

In 2024, HRBA hosted over 2,700 players across 352 teams in two domestic seasons, supporting 11 affiliated clubs. Hills Raiders WABL entered 22 teams in 2024 with 241 players, 47 coaches, 27 team managers, and over 50 referees.
