This year’s State Championships were held over 3 weekends, from late November to mid December, at the Jack Bendat Stadium in Mt Claremont.  The Hills Raiders Basketball Association (HRBA) entered a total of 8 teams, with a men’s and women’s team entered for Under 11’s, 13’s, 15’s and 17’s.  The most successful teams were the women’s Under 11’s team with 3 wins and 1 loss and the men’s Under 15’s team with 2 wins and 2 losses.

However, it’s not all about winning.  HRBA entered these teams in order to start gaining practical experience playing basketball at a higher level.  HRBA have entered State Champs teams over the past 2 years to assist our players gaining vast basketball experiences to eventually lead to entering the WABL competition.  Participating in competitive basketball games in front of large crowds in big sporting venues is all part of the learning process for our coaches, players and managers.  To be involved in such a highly regarded basketball competition is an achievement in itself and everyone involved should be very proud.

As always, HRBA is committed to developing and improving its coaches and players.  As such, HRBA paid for all costs associated with the preparation for, and the attendance of the players and coaches.  These costs included training, equipment, court hire and the $25 player entry fee that would normally be incurred by the player.

HRBA would like to once again thank all of those involved, for the time and effort they have put into training over the past few months and over the State Champs weekend.  Without you the HRBA players would not have experienced the State Championships.
