The 15 Boys team played at the State Championships this weekend. They played their first game against the Cockburn Cougars which they lost 41-16. It was a bit of a nervous start for the team with only 2 of the 10 players having ever played at the State Championships previously. They played Busselton next, which they also lost, 25-9, but Coach Adam Fox said they played a lot better than the final score suggested. The nerves settled and they won the next game against cross town rivals, the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, 28-15. On Sunday they played Lakeside Lightning and won the game 23-16. This win put them in the semi finals against Busselton. Unfortunately, they lost this game 35-18.

It was a fantastic effort by the boys who improved with each game. Congratulations to the boys and Coach Adam.

Overall the State Championships were a great success. All 3 teams that we entered made the semi finals. It looks good for the future of Hills Raiders basketball.

Congratulations once again to the teams, coaches, managers and referees and thanks to all the supporters who came along to watch the games.
