As part of our program to develop a strong cohort of referees in the competition, we will be once again running a referee training program over three (3) nights at Mundaring Arena at the start of the 2019 Summer Season.
Players who are 12 years of age are eligible to participate in training and become a junior referee and we strongly encourage players to come along and find out what is involved in becoming a referee and complete the theory component of the referee training program on Wednesday, 24th October 2018. The Clinic is for both new referees and a refresher for past referees to ensure that they are up to date with current competition rules.
Those wanting to participate in the referees programme for the first time must attend all three referee training clinics. HRBA referees returning for this season are only required to attend the refresher course on Wednesday. 7th November.
Once new junior referees have completed the theory component successfully they will be fixtured on for games. Initially, they will shadow a senior ref, once our Ref Coordinator is confident that they are able to ref on their own they will referee games as the second with an experienced referee along with having a roaming black and white referee reviewing their performance and to ensure that they are supported in difficult situations.
Wednesday, 24th and 31st October and Wednesday, 7 November.
7pm to 9pm
Mundaring Arena, Upstairs in the Committee Room
If you are interested in attending or have any questions please contact Cheryl Steele, Referees Coordinator on 0409 884 038.
